Minimum advertised price for the HTC Rezound and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus sneaks out

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 02:18 PM PDT

MAP

It is always nice to see the minimum advertised price leak out for a device so we know about where we could expect it to be on contract pricing. The folks at Engadget received a tip about MAP pricing on the HTC Rezound (aka the HTC Vigor) and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus device and both of them show as $299. Interesting note about it is that the pricing is effective as of November 10, 2011, which is just shy of a month away from the upcoming announcement. What is that we hear? Excitement in the air?

Motorola Atrix 2 spotted in AT&T store a bit early

Atrix 2

The Motorola Atrix 2 should be hitting AT&T store shelves Sunday Oct. 16, but in at least one location they are already sitting pretty and ready for fondling.  A reader sent these pics in, saying that the manager of his local AT&T store has already put them out "by mistake".  He goes on to tell us two pretty interesting things -- the H+ icon in the status bar has been replaced with a "4G" logo, and the screen on the new models is good enough that he doesn't think it's a pentile matrix display.  While the network icon is pretty lulzworthy, the news about an improved screen is good to hear.  Maybe this is a worthy refresh after all?  hit the break for another pic, and check out our hands-on.

Thanks, anon!

Android Central

Dear, Molly Wood. How's it going? Couldn't help but notice your latest rant about Android. (We've had a few ourselves.) And while we, being the biggest and best Android community, well, anywhere, think it's swell you've been giving Android a go (especially as other platforms have been wooing you), we need to clear a few things up here, particularly regarding this whole "fragmentation" thing that's got you down.

Let's everybody hold hands and hit that little "Read more" link below, shall we?

X10 AirPad mini-review

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 10:22 AM PDT

X10 Airpad

We don't normally worry about the really low-end Android tablets floating around out there, because they always seem to disappoint.  We had to make an exception when we heard about the X10 AirPad, though.  X10 is a company many of us know -- they've been around forever since 1978 and have sold many a gadget to many a gadget-lover.  And since the AirPad checks in at under $200, we figured it might be the one.

Gingerbread and a 7-inch form factor doesn't get enough love anyway -- right?  hit the break, and have a look at a video review, some pics, and all the details.

Android App Review: Dexter

Posted: 15 Oct 2011 08:10 AM PDT

Dexter 1

If you’re a fan of the show Dexter on Showtime, then you’ll want to check out the official Android app. Showtime is doing some cool things with complimentary apps for its shows, including the popular series Weeds and the aforementioned Dexter.

When you open the app, you’ll be presented with the home screen, which displays four tabs up top as well as six main features rotating on the main screen. These include guest stars for the upcoming season, behind the scenes looks, a glance at the widget and even an opportunity to watch the season premiere on your device. The four tabs that can be found up top are: Home, The Show, Videos and Photobooth.

  • Home: includes all of the options listed above
  • The Show: this tab contains 5 subtabs called About, Episodes, Airtimes, Cast, and Extras. About provides a premise for the show including the new season. Episodes allows you to sort through past shows, read recaps and watch video clips. Airtime lists all of the upcoming Dexter episodes available on various networks.  Cast provides bios and pictures of the main cast members and Extras includes wallpapers and the official Twitter account for the show
  • Videos: The Videos tab includes a full episode available for free as well as behind the scenes clips for the fans that love extras
  • Photobooth: Photobooth allows you to to put a picture of yourself inside a theme based on Dexter. Themes include Dark Angel, Kill Wall, Kill Suit, Miami Badge and Suspect File

Dexter is a fantastic app for anyone who is a fan of the popular Showtime series. It is a perfect compliment to the TV show. It's a free app available from the Android Market, we've got links after the break.
